LEGO Speed Champions - McLaren P1 - Set 75909 - Review

Back in 2015 LEGO decided to give us the Speed Champions theme. One of the first sets LEGO made for this line was the McLaren P1. The good news is: We finally get some different vehicles. In the past we've had quite a lot of Ferrari sets from the old LEGO Racers theme. And this time, LEGO also decided to print the torso. Back in the old Racers days, we didn't get it, which was really annoying.

Minifigure:

The minifigure has a print on the front and on the back of the torso. It's interesting that the Speed Champions figures don't have an extra head piece which has a balaclava.

Stickers:

In case you don't like stickers. There quite a few of them included in this set.

The build and the completed model:

 
I had a lot of fun building this set. I like, that we get a lot of these orange pieces in this set. The windshield used to be a new - and printed - piece which LEGO introduced with the Speed Champions theme. If you want to get inside the cockpit you have to remove it completely. Maybe a hinge piece could have been a better solution for this. This set also comes with two sets of hub caps. All of them can be switched out with the wrench element, once you placed them inside the tyre. As side builds you get a piece of the race track and 3 cones.

Summary:

 
Overall I highly recommend you to get this set, if you can find a good deal for it. I think it's looking wonderful and I guess it will also be a great addition to any LEGO city for sure.
